Turks and Caicos Kiteboarding
The Turks and Caicos Islands are quickly becoming one of the top destinations for kiteboarding in the Caribbean. Kiteboarding or kitesurfing is an extreme sport that combines aspects of surfing, sailing, and wakeboarding. Kiteboarders use a controllable sail to harness the power of the wind to propel across the surface of the water. With its vast blue waters, an average daily temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit and over 350 days of sun a year, South Caicos is the perfect destination for kiteboarding attracting both avid kiteboarders from around the world and novices alike!
South Caicos Kiteboarding
Just southwest of Sailrock Resort is the Bell Sound and the Bell Sound Nature Preserve. This crystal-clear shallow lagoon covers about 4.4 square miles and is partially enclosed by South Caicos and the Sailrock Peninsula. The South Caicos ridgetops shelter Bell Sound from the strong Atlantic Ocean winds ensuring soft tranquil waves for kiteboarders of all skill levels. Bell Sound is a great place to learn to kitesurf. To the north by Big Cay and Plandon Cay, kiteboarders can expect stronger Atlantic winds from the east allowing for greater speeds and beautiful scenery. Jerry Camp is a great launch point for kiteboarders looking to surf this area. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned kiteboarder, kiteboarding is one of the many exciting out-island adventures you can enjoy while visiting Sailrock.
